At its June 2 meeting, the Santa Clara County Board of Education adopted the request below by member T.N. Ho to dedicate the meeting to the memory of Abby Sobrato.

I respectfully ask the Santa Clara County Board of Education to dedicate this June 2 meeting in memory of Abby Sobrato.

Abby joined the Walden West Foundation 15 years ago, and served as its president until her untimely death last week.

She is credited as the driving force behind the construction of the swimming pool, cabin and stately lodge. Her vision of a state-of-the-art Walden West Science Center was punctuated by her tireless efforts to fundraise for the project. Abby and her husband, John, donated over a million dollars to the Science Center, and she developed countless donor contacts in support of the Center.

It was our good fortune to have Abby’s support, inspiration and vision. We extend our sympathy to her family and friends.
